Leicester were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Spurs on Sunday afternoon, after an early goal from Matilda Vinberg settled the scoreline in the capital.

Following the game, the Assistant Manager shared her thoughts on the defeat, stating that the Foxes weren’t at their usual standard for the WSL meeting.

“I didn’t think we were at our best today compared to our normal level, which took it’s toll,” Foster announced. “It was sloppy to concede an early goal and, for us, that was poor.

City lost out to Spurs on Sunday afternoon.

“I thought some of our basics weren’t up to scratch. It took us about 20 minutes to get into the game, but after that, we had a lot more chances, but the final ball let us down.

“We know Tottenham’s threats, with their counter attacks and transitions. It was disappointing to concede an early goal, but we had the chances late on and unfortunately we couldn’t take them.”

Foster changed things up early in the second half, introducing Emilia Pelgander and Deanne Rose into the game, and went on to talk about the reason behind those changes.

“We wanted to be able to progress up the pitch better and create more chances,” the Assistant Manager continued.

“We brought Emilia [Pelgander] on to win the drop-downs, which she did a number of times, because that was the area where we let ourselves down.

'We Weren't At Our Best Today'

First Team Assistant Manager Jennifer Foster discusses a 1-0 LCFC Women loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

“Every game is a learning, and I think for us, there are positives to take from this game. After those 20 minutes, there is a lot to learn from. We’ve got Brighton and Aston Villa before that, so we’ll focus on that first.”

Leicester return home next weekend as they now prepare for a home fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion, with a narrow two-point gap separating the two sides.

Foster believes every game between now and the end of the season must be approached with the intention to win to ensure the Club's target is met.

She added: “The players have been brilliant and stayed professional in what they do and last week showed how they can react.

“Brighton are fighting for things as well; we’re still aiming for a top-half finish so that’s what we need to bear in mind, that every game is important. They’ll pose a different threat but so will we.”
