League action returned to LCFC Training Ground on Monday evening as City’s Under-21s housed similarly ranked Man City with the current season drawing to a close.

Coming from a goal down, the Citizens took the points, but midfielder Braybrooke believes his side had chances to put the game out of sight during the early stages in Seagrave.

“We had a lot of chances to win,” Braybrooke announced. “In the first half we could’ve been 2-0 up and had the game done and dusted. We’re happy with our performance but we just didn't have enough to get it across the line today.

Sammy Braybrooke believes he is recovering well and feeling stronger each passing game.

“I’ve got a lot of confidence with free-kicks at the moment, and like I said last week, I think it’s a chance to score. Unlucky that todays didn’t go in but it was a good finish from Pops (Chris Popov) to take the lead.

“We had chances to score again but unfortunately today wasn’t our day and we look forward to going again next week.”

Braybrooke was keen to talk about the impressive performance from forward Silko Thomas, stating he had the better of his opposing full-back, but must learn to take the chances that fall his way.

He went on to explain how the adverse weather conditions didn’t affect their gameplan, although the strong winds weren’t ideal factors as they looked to get back into the game during the second half.

“When you see one of your players have the better of an opposition player, then you always want to give them the ball and I think Silko [Thomas] played well,” Braybrooke continued.

“We probably didn’t use him enough in the second half, but we’ll give him credit it for the first half and I’m sure in time, he’ll start taking more of those chances.

“The second half started to get quite windy and the rain started coming so it was a lot harder. But for our football it’s okay, we try to play quick football and from the back so nothing we’re not used to.”

The midfielder was full of praise for teammate Silko Thomas.

Having had a positive impact since returning from a lengthy period on the sidelines with injury, the young Fox spoke about his ever-growing strength and how he aims to finish the season on a positive note.

“That’s the plan, to try and get stronger every week,” Braybrooke explained. “That was the first 90 minutes in the bank and hopefully I’ll get another 90 as soon as possible. I’m feeling stronger and fitter each week and now it’s just about kicking on.

“As well as getting minutes, I want to keep my performance levels high. I didn’t know how it was going to feel coming back after injury, but I feel stronger and that I’m getting better each game. Hopefully I can keep this momentum going.”
