Southampton Game To Celebrate Disability Matters Campaign

Leicester City’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Southampton on Tuesday 23 April will be dedicated to the Disability Matters campaign.

- Leicester City dedicate Southampton fixture to Disability Matters
- The initiative highlights the Club’s disability offering and its efforts to make King Power Stadium an accessible venue for all
- Game will also recognise work of the Disability Support Association and Level Playing Field

Disability Matters is an initiative that highlights the Club’s disability offering and the range of facilities it has to help supporters with disabilities enjoy the matchday experience at King Power Stadium.

The fixture will also recognise the efforts of the Disability Support Association (DSA), an independent organisation who work with the Club to improve the matchday experience for supporters with disabilities, along with Level Playing Field, a charity whose efforts are focused on removing barriers currently excluding disabled people.

Members of the DSA will have an information stall in the Foxes Fanstore for supporters to find out more about the group, while City’s players will warm-up in Disability Matters t-shirts and be led out onto the pitch for kick-off by a group of young supporters with disabilities.

Anna Dickman, Disability Liaison Officer at Leicester City, said: “This matchday is an example of the work we do as a Club to support our fans with disabilities and how we strive to improve our facilities at King Power Stadium.

“We’re committed to being fully inclusive and we welcome all supporters, irrespective of their disabilities. The team are available from Monday to Friday and every matchday should any supporter need our assistance.”

Sensory packs are available for supporters, their families and carers on matchdays, while the Club also offers audio descriptive commentary for Men’s and Women’s fixtures.

The packs, which include ear defenders, sensory tangles and further matchday information, can be collected for every game at King Power Stadium. Fans are encouraged to pre-order their packs, where they will be available to collect from the Foxes Fanstore on matchday. Please email disability@lcfc.co.uk for more details.

The audio descriptive commentary service, meanwhile, aims to enhance the matchday experience for supporters with sight loss. Headsets are available to collect from the Matchday Staff Entrance for each home game. This is located in the South Stand next to Gate 13.

For all accessibility and disability enquiries, please call Disability Liaison Officer Anna Dickman on 0116 229 4540 or email disability@lcfc.co.uk
