The 39-year-old, who attends every home game and most away fixtures, was born deaf and lost his sight in March 2010. He is also non-verbal.

A Season Ticket Holder since 2011, Alec has been working with Elsa since 2020, who uses sign language on his hands to explain to him how the match action is unfolding.

She said: “He absolutely loves going to games. He really enjoys going to stadiums he hasn’t visited before and had a great time at Preston last week!

“He’s had a lot of support from the Club and is very complimentary of the efforts of the staff who help him.

“Most people around us know that he is deaf and blind because of his cane, but there are always a few challenges, especially involving stair access and the occasions when fans don’t realise he is deaf and blind.”

Deaf Awareness Week takes place from 6 to 12 May and aims to increase the visibility of challenges that the deaf community face, while educating others on how they can support them.

“I feel happy,” Alec commented. “I’ve supported Leicester all my life and I love the Club. The help I receive is very good.

“I just wish I could have seen the Premier League title win, along with the FA Cup and this season’s Championship victory.”

The Club has a range of facilities to help supporters with disabilities enjoy the matchday experience at King Power Stadium.

The Disability Matters campaign – which was celebrated against Southampton last month – is an initiative that highlights the Club’s disability offering.

Anna Dickman, Disability Liaison Officer at Leicester City, said: “Alec is a delightful man who has such a passion and love for Leicester City.

“Football brings people together and it gives me great pleasure assisting our supporters with disabilities, ensuring they feel valued and looked after every time they visit King Power Stadium.”
