Christian Fuchs says Leicester City’s focus lies firmly on their own performance as they prepare for a second Premier League fixture in four days.

Fuchs says the team are focused on Tuesday evening in the hope of recording their first league win since early February, while has seen them open up a six-point gap to the bottom three.

David Moyes’ men are in desperate need of points if they are to retain their top-flight status and, for Fuchs, that is exactly why City must be wary of Tuesday’s opposition.

Speaking to LCFC TV ahead of the game, Fuchs said: “Obviously they’re down there and they need points very urgently. It’s going to be a tough game and a tough fight. We saw away that they’re a good side even though they’re down there.

“They’re hard to play against but again, it’s all about us. We’ve shown in the last couple of games that when we focus on us, we’re a good side. In the last five games, we’ve shown we’ve got great quality in our team and we want to keep going.

Sunderland is a strong side because they’re fighting for every point and don’t want to be relegated. They want to stay in the Premier League as well and we’re aware of that and we’re ready.

A win for the Premier League champions on Tuesday could see them move as much as nine points clear of the drop zone.

While a mouthwatering UEFA Champions League double header with Atletico Madrid looms, Fuchs says his men will make top-flight survival their top priority.

“That’s our main focus,” added the Austrian left back. “We’re taking the game as they come. The Premier League is more important than anything else because without the Premier League, you cannot build up on anything else.

“We’ll obviously focus on these games to stay in the Premier League. The Champions League has been the top of the peak all season long and that’s great for us too.”
