Blue Army Given Premier League Trophy Photo Opportunity

The Blue Army descended upon King Power Stadium on Friday for their last opportunity to take photographs with the Premier League trophy before it is passed on to the 2016/17 winners.

Leicester City stunned the world last season to lift the famous trophy despite pre-season predictions suggesting a battle against relegation would be a more likely outcome. For the first time in their 133-year history, the Foxes were crowned champions of England with 23 victories and just three defeats.

Thousands of City fans queued on Filbert Way throughout the day to secure their own piece of history before the Club hands the trophy back to the Premier League. With face painting, balloon making and free giveaways, the Blue Army were well looked after as they patiently waited pitchside on Friday.

Stevie, a Foxes fan who travelled all the way from the Falkland Islands to make sure he was at King Power Stadium, said: “It’s a dream come true to see it in the flesh, it’s amazing. We might not see it here again in our lifetime. All my friends were telling me back home ‘we’re going to win it'.

“But it only really started to happen towards the end of the season. I couldn’t sleep, I dragged my son out of bed and we celebrated something we never thought would be possible. I’ve waited 47 years to see it happen."

“Luke, my son, has just waited 11 years, so he’s lucky. Never in my lifetime did I think this would happen. There was lots of crying when we did it.”
