Leicester City midfielder Andy King tied a Club record on Sunday following his appearance for Wales in their 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw against Georgia.

Academy graduate King played just over an hour for his nation to equal John O’Neill’s 39 international appearances made while a Leicester City player.

It took just 10 minutes for Wales to break the deadlock, with Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale opening the scoring in Cardiff, only for Georgia to level through Tornike Okriashvili in the second half.

Meanwhile, striker Ahmed Musa came on as a late substitute for Nigeria, who opened their 2018 World Cup qualification campaign with a 2-1 win over Zambia.

First-half strikes from Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho proved to be enough to see off Zambia, who replied in the second period through Collins Mbesuma.

Alex Pascanu also saw international action this weekend, as the versatile young defender played 90 minutes for Romania’s Under-19s, who were beaten 3-1 by Norway in the qualification stages of the European U19 Championships.
