King On Target For Wales

Andy King grabbed a goal for Wales on Saturday night as Chris Coleman's men played out a 1-1 draw with Finland in Cardiff.

King is one of five Foxes away with their respective nations during the current international break, and looked to have handed his side a useful victory when he brilliantly headed Hal Robson-Kanu's cross in on the hour mark.

However a stoppage time equaliser from Riku Riski salvaged a draw for the visitors. Despite the late goal it was an impressive display for City's King, who came through the full 90 minutes and could even have had a second goal in the closing stages had he been able to connect with Chris Gunter's low cross.

Chris Wood has also been in action this international break, as his New Zealand tackled Mexico in Mexico City on Wednesday night in the first leg of their crucial World Cup Qualification play-off tie. The All Whites' hopes of reaching their second successive World Cup Finals in Brazil next summer took a blow however after a 5-1 defeat in front of 100,000 at the Estadio Azteca. The return leg is on Wednesday 20 November, but Wood will have to sit out the tie after picking up a booking in the first match.

The action continued on Thursday, when young defender Liam Moore was among the England Under-21s camp as they beat Finland 3-0 at stadiummk in their latest UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifier. The Barrow-born youngster wasn't involved on the night, but has been in outstanding form for the Foxes this term, earning him a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s squad, and will hope to feature against San Marino at Shrewsbury Town’s Greenhous Meadow next week.

On Friday, Schmeichel was an unused substitute for Denmark, who overcame neighbours Norway 2-1 thanks to a late winner, as they begin preparations for their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, having narrowly missed out on qualification for next summer’s World Cup. Kasper started the Danes’ previous match – a 6-0 victory over Malta in Copenhagen – and will be hoping to strengthen his claim to become his country’s No.1.
