Pearson's Injury Update

City boss Nigel Pearson has confirmed there are no fresh injury worries ahead of his side’s trip to the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.
Nine of his players represented their nations in the international break with several of them yet to return having played as recently as Wednesday evening.

The Foxes face Mark Hughes’ Stoke City in their latest Barclays Premier League outing with the City squad edging closer to full fitness.

“We've still got two or three players to get back so can't I can’t give a full update on the squad,” said Pearson. “It is a typical international week.

“We've had several away this week and we still don't have everyone back.

“One or two lads have played for African Nations and the logistics are more complicated.

“All in all we are getting nearer full strength and that's a big plus.”

Certain to be a boost to the side’s morale is the imminent return of influential central-midfielder Matty James, although the Stoke game may come too early for him.

The former Manchester United man has been out since the later stages of pre-season with a shin injury, missing out on the opening stages of this season’s Premier League campaign.

Pearson continued: “We're very happy with how the squad has trained and have the bonus of Matty James being back with the squad.

"Matty's had a full week's training. As it is with most injuries you don't go from being injured to being able to play.

"He's had one or two issues in the past so it is important he is ready for matches. We don't expose players to match situations if he's not ready for it.

"You probably will not see much of a problem in isolation. He's a talented player, it's important we give players like him enough training time.”
