James Backing Improving Foxes

Midfielder Matty James knows Leicester City need to rediscover their cutting edge if they are to get the better of Queens Park Rangers in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.
A 0-0 draw with Sunderland last time out briefly lifted the Foxes out of the relegation zone until Crystal Palace beat Liverpool on Sunday, so three points against a side below them in the league would be a welcome tonic.

Both goals and clean sheets have eluded the Foxes in recent weeks, but with an assured defensive display keeping Sunderland at bay and chances starting to flow at the other end, James saw reason for optimism.

He told Foxes Player: “It was a lot better [against Sunderland]. We were positive, we’ve created chances and probably should have taken them, especially me as an individual.

“I definitely should have done better with my chances but it’s one of those where you have to be there to score them. That’s one thing that I need to work on, and I’ll be working on it in the future.

“The clean sheet is a massive positive. We’ve managed the ball a lot better and created chances with the two wingers.

“It was difficult – they’re a good, solid team. It was made difficult for us at times but I thought we coped with it really well. Kasper [Schmeichel] made some good saves but we probably just edged it, and I think we deserved the win. We’ll take the positives from the game and we go again on Saturday.

“Hopefully we can go to Queens Park Rangers and get the win and start moving up the table again. There’s no reason why we can’t win there. We were a lot better [against Sunderland] – we’ll go there with more confidence and hopefully we can turn them over.”
