Leicester City Number One For Literacy

Leicester City’s Community Trust is the first in the country to invite schools to take part in the Premier League Reading Stars for the 2014/15 season.
The Club’s very own midfield general Dean Hammond was at the Club’s launch of the event earlier this month, with tales of his own childhood experiences with reading and how he values it with his own children.

The Premier League Reading Stars is a reading intervention programme that captures the motivational power of football to inspire young people to read more and improve their literacy skills.

It delivers statutory requirements of the new national curriculum. These sessions are delivered by our very own staff over 10 weeks and involve one hour of literacy, followed by a one-hour practical session to incentivise pupils in Years 5, 6 and 7,who are below national literacy levels.

Over the 10 weeks, the majority of the sessions will be delivered in your school to make it more convenient, but the final sessions can be arranged at King Power Stadium to celebrate your group’s achievement.

Sessions run for groups of 16-20 pupils and are competitively priced at only £8 per-pupil-per-session.

To be one of the first schools in Leicestershire (and the country) to participate on this exciting programme for this year, contact our Education Officer, Jamie Skinner on 0116 2915290 or email .
