Loan Stars Meet In Five-Goal Clash

Two of Leicester City’s loan stars were on the score sheet last weekend as both Tom Hopper and Michael Cain traded blows at Banks’ Stadium.

While Cain made his 18th appearance for Walsall, Hopper played 90 minutes on his debut for Scunthorpe.
The Iron ran out 4-1 winners, taking the lead through an own goal from James Chambers on 24 minutes before doubling their advantage six minutes before half-time through Hopper.
Cain tried to spark a revival nine minutes into the second half with his second goal for the Saddlers, but a penalty from Paddy Madden and a Neil Bishop strike sealed all three points for Hopper’s new side.
While Walsall travel to Colchester in League 1 on Saturday, Scunthorpe host Bristol City, with both players hoping for a place in the starting XI.
Meanwhile, Jacob Blyth has enjoyed plenty of game time at Burton Albion since the turn of the year, helping them to register six games without a loss.
Gaining valuable experience under the stewardship of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Blyth has now made 21 appearances in a Brewers jersey, most recently in the 2-1 League 2 triumph over Adam Smith and Callum Elder’s Mansfield.
The Development Squad duo joined the Stags last week on a one-month loan deal and both made their debuts for Adam Murray’s men.
While Blyth will hope to be involved in Burton’s league trip to Portsmouth on Saturday, Smith and Elder will aim to keep their place in the starting line-up for Mansfield when they host Exeter in League 2.
Jack Barmby, who joined Rotherham last week on a one-month loan deal, played 57 minutes in his first game for the Millers in their 1-0 defeat to high-flying Brentford.
The young wide man, who has operated at both left-back and left midfield for City’s Under-21s on a number of occasions this season, will hope to be involved again when Rotherham entertain Championship leaders Bournemouth on Saturday.
Another City winger, Adam Dawson, sealed a one-month loan deal with Bristol Rovers in the Conference this week, hoping to get some more minutes under his belt having previously played at Nuneaton Town already this season.
The explosive attacker could be involved as early as Saturday when Rovers travel Woking in the league.
Midfielder Paul Gallagher has been in fine form for Preston North End in the New Year and has now notched up 30 appearances for the League 1 outfit this term.
The Scotsman netted a brace in the 2-0 FA Cup Third Round victory over Norwich on Saturday 3 January before playing 90 minutes in the Lilywhite’s 2-0 loss to Cain’s Walsall in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash last Wednesday.
Gaining another full game in the 2-1 loss to Sheffield United on Saturday, Gallagher will look to make another appearance for Preston on Saturday when they host Leyton Orient in the league.
