Huth Hoping To Put On A Show

Defender Robert Huth is keen for Leicester City to end the Barclays Premier League season with a bang on Sunday afternoon as they tackle Queens Park Rangers at King Power Stadium.
With the Foxes already safe in the league and the Rs relegated, there’s little riding on the fixture in terms of the league, but Huth is keen to repay the fans for their support by giving them one more win to savour.

The 30-year-old German arrived on loan from Stoke City in January and has been a revelation alongside Wes Morgan and Marcin Wasilewski in a back three – a trio that have helped City seal five clean sheets out of six.

“There are exciting times ahead [for Leicester City]," Huth told Foxes Player. “Obviously all the lads are really happy with what has gone on over the last few months and hopefully now we can put on a good show for the home supporters on Sunday.

“We are professional footballers for a reason and we take every game seriously with the right attitude. I know we’re safe but when we step over the white line on Sunday it’ll bring that competitiveness back.

“For the fans, [I want to say] just a big thank you really. From day one they’ve been really supportive of myself and the team. They’ve really spurred us on to finally be safe next season.

“We never stopped believing that we could get a win and at times you just need one win to get you back into the thick of things. It took us a few games to do it but when we did we kept on winning games.”

The plaudits have been rolling in for City’s defence in recent weeks, and it’s a stability that Huth feels has given City’s other players the platform to get on the attack more.

He added: “We’ve played a few times at the back against Manchester City away and teams like that. We played good stuff and sometimes teams play really defensively but with having three out and out defenders, it’s almost easier for the team to attack.

“I don’t really want to run forward. Marcin doesn’t and the skipper doesn’t either, so at any given point we have three defenders if things do go a bit pear shaped.

“That gave the team a bit more freedom to attack. Certainly Jeff Schlupp and whoever plays on the right like Marc Albrighton have done great at helping the defenders too.”
