Drinkwater Hails ‘Deserved’ Survival

After Leicester City crowned their Barclays Premier League survival with a 5-1 win on Sunday afternoon, Danny Drinkwater said it was a deserved finale for players and fans alike.
Both united to create a truly memorable day at King Power Stadium as the Foxes brushed aside already relegated Queens Park Rangers to record their biggest win of the season.

Jamie Vardy, Marc Albrighton, Leo Ulloa, Esteban Cambiasso and Andrej Kramaric all found the back of the net during the match, which was followed by a lap of appreciation – something that was important to the players.

“I think it’s well deserved on behalf of the players,” Drinkwater told Foxes Player. “The fans have got what they deserved this season too by us staying up.

“They deserve it. We’ve done extremely well this season and I can’t fault the fans, they’ve been brilliant all season for us, really great.

“It’s great to end on a win after going on such a good run and it was great to end the run in the same way as we started it. Hopefully we take that into pre-season and hopefully the lads can carry it on through next season.”

It’s been a campaign of ups and downs for the Foxes, but when all looked lost to some observers, Nigel Pearson’s squad dug deep to pull off one of the most miraculous escapes in Premier League history.

He added: “I don’t think anybody expected us to do it. Obviously we always believed, but outside of the Club people thought we were dead and buried. That shows our spirit and shows what kind of group we are when we pull together.”
