Andy King’s Wales are on the verge of qualifying for Euro 2016 following their goalless draw against Israel in Cardiff on Sunday.

City’s No.10 played 86 minutes in his nation’s clash with Israel and could have found himself on the scoresheet were it not for two good stops from opposition goalkeeper Marciano.

On nine minutes, King beat the offside trap before seeing his low effort saved by the legs of Israel’s stopper, while the Academy graduate was again denied in the second period with a header from close range. Winger Tom Lawrence, currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers, was an unused substitute.

Earlier in the day, winger Riyad Mahrez helped Algeria record a 3-1 victory over Lesotho as they continued their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign.

The former Le Havre man had another impressive game for Algeria, setting up the first goal in style as his excellent pass found Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam.

Lesotho did equalise in the second period, but Dinamo Zagreb forward El-Arbi Hilal Soudani scored twice in five minutes to ensure Mahrez’s nation secured all three points.

Meanwhile, Andrej Kramarić was an unused substitute in Croatia’s 2-0 defeat in Norway, meaning the striker’s nation drop to second in Group H.

Monday could see City shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel in action as his Denmark side travel to Armenia with a kick-off of 5pm BST.
