The Fastest Player In The Premier League
- Jamie Vardy is the fastest, followed by Jeffrey Schlupp in second and Marc Albrighton in third
- Wes Morgan has clocked the eighth fastest top speed in the league so far this season
- Vardy appears twice in the top five
- Data provided by Barclays Premier League supplier TRACAB
Jamie Vardy is fast. This we know. But thanks to TRACAB, we now know that he is indeed the fastest player in the Barclays Premier League.
In fact, Leicester City boast the three fastest players in the entire division so far in 2015/16, with Jeffrey Schlupp edging out team-mate Marc Albrighton in a photo finish for second place.
Pace has been a key weapon of Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City so far this season, and the data clearly backs that up. But it’s not just City’s attackers that opposition teams need to be fearful of, as skipper Wes Morgan has also clocked the eighth fastest speed of the season.
That puts Vardy, Schlupp, Albrighton and Morgan ahead of the likes of Kyle Walker, Willian, Yannick Bolasie and Theo Walcott – FIFA 16’s quickest player - for speed.
TRACAB uses advanced image-processing technology which can establish the top speeds clocked by a player during a Premier League game – the top 20 of which were published on Wednesday.
Vardy’s top speed hit a phenomenal 35.44 kph in City’s 2-1 win over West Ham, while Schlupp reached 35.26 kph and Albrighton 35.00 kph, both against Bournemouth.
And to prove that it was no fluke, Vardy actually makes the top 20 list of speeds twice, with another clocking of 34.95 kph coming in the 1-1 draw at Bournemouth ranking at fifth overall.
Morgan isn’t far behind in eighth with a speed of 34.76 kph. That also came in the match at Bournemouth.
