Young Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell says he’s thrilled to sign a new long-term deal with the Premier League champions.

The talented left back played at Oxford United, before completing 90 minutes against Celtic last weekend, and is eager to get involved in his side’s upcoming games.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Chilwell said: “Obviously I’m buzzing – it’s a great thing to sign a new long-term contract with Leicester City. I’ve been here a long time, since I was 12 years-old, so to be committed to the Club for another five years is definitely a massive thing and I’m looking forward to it.

“I’m happy with my decision and I can’t wait to get started in the season. Hopefully I’ll play a lot more games this season and make myself a team member.”

Having made his first team debut against Hull City in the EFL Cup last term, Chilwell went on to play against Tottenham Hotspur twice in the FA Cup – an experience the defender says he took a great deal from.

He added: “It was massive. The winning mentality last season was massive. Winning the Premier League and being a part of that team doesn’t really get much better at my age. It was a massive learning curve and obviously it’ll help me in the future.

“We’ve got two massive pre-season games against PSG and Barcelona, so it’ll be a good test to see how we fair against the best teams in the world, and then obviously it’ll be a good taster for the Champions League.

“Personally, I’m happy and I feel fit. I think my two performances have been good and I’m looking forward to the other two games in pre season and hopefully playing more games during the season. I feel valued, and starting against Celtic was a nice thing to do.”
