- The wideman hopes to be involved again prior to the new Premier League campaign

Having represented England Under-21s at the U21 European Championships after the 2016/17 campaign came to an end, Gray was given an extended summer break along with fellow Fox Ben Chilwell.

The former Birmingham City man, 21, came just inches away from finding the net on his return to the City line-up and looked a significant threat from both wings throughout.

Gray told LCFC TV after the game: “It’s pre-season so the game was a bit scrappy at times and that’s what it’s about.

“We’ve got to get the rustiness out our system, but most importantly we’re getting the minutes in the tank. The season’s two weeks away, so a few more games and everyone will be looking good.

Gray Delighted To Make Impact

Foxes winger Demarai Gray spoke to LCFC TV after City's goalless draw at Stadium MK on Friday evening.

“It’s good to be back on the pitch getting minutes. Obviously, I’ve got to play a bit of catch up because I’m behind on games, but it’s important I played that 90 minutes today – I need as many minutes as possible.

“It was a tough game and it was end-to-end, but most importantly it was about getting my energy levels back up to the level that they should be at and picking up the consistency.

“My sharpness will come back. There’s a bit of rust in there but that’s expected because it’s my first game back. I feel strong and I’m happy that I completed the 90 minutes.”

The level of quality will go up – we’ll be playing Premier League football against shortly so the better standard of opposition, the better for us.

Robbie Neilson’s men tested the Foxes, who had chances to win the game, but also had to do some defending of their own.

Gray added: “MK Dons played good football at times and that really tested us. We have to change a few tactics at times and they had us running around.

“That’s to be expected and they put on a good performance so it’s good to play teams like that.
