The Foxes were defeated following goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kevin De Bruyne, but it could have been an entirely different game had Vincent Kompany been sent off for his challenge on Jamie Vardy with just three minutes gone.

For Taggart, Pep Guardiola’s men rightfully took all three points from the encounter, but City can be proud of the character they showed at King Power Stadium.

“It was a good second half performance from Manchester City,” Taggart told LCFC Radio at full-time. “I don’t think anybody in this stadium can deny them the win.

“Some of their football at times is simply sensational. In Kevin De Bruyne, they have a genuine world class player right at this moment in time, there’s no shadow of a doubt.

“The first half was a little bit different. For me, Vincent Kompany should have been sent off – it doesn’t really matter what moment of the game it was in.

“He wasn’t and in the end, that was probably the difference in this game of football. Manchester City were good value for the three points.

“It was a spirited performance from Leicester City and to be fair, they can take a lot of positives out of this game and move on.”
