City’s Under-23s stretched their unbeaten run to 14 games with a 2-1 victory over Everton on Monday afternoon.

An early strike from Fraser Hornby, a star of the Toffees side who overcame Apollon Limassol in the UEFA Europa League, gave the visitors the lead, before a Yohan Benalouane brace.

Under-23s boss Steve Beaglehole made six changes from the side who dispatched Scunthorpe United, calling upon first teamers Benalouane, Eldin Jakupović and Ahmed Musa.

Beaglehole On Latest City Victory

Steve Beaglehole speaks to LCFC TV following a 2-1 victory for the Under-23s over Everton.

Despite a frustrating start, Development Squad manager Beaglehole was thrilled with the win over Everton earlier this week.

He said: “This was probably the poorest we’ve played in the first half, Everton really came at us; they had a game plan and we were a bit disjointed, but we had a couple of words at half-time.

“You can win a game in many different ways. Sam Hughes made a big difference, he showed his strength and Yohan played like the player we know he is before scoring two great goals.”

Choudhury on a landmark year

After making his Premier League debut and continuing to impress for the Development Squad, Academy graduate Hamza Choudhury has reflected on a whirlwind year.

“All of the Club’s teams are doing well so it’s a great environment to be a part of on a daily basis," he said. "The Under-18s are starting to put us under pressure too.

"It’ll be our places in the team they will take so we need to up our game. We’ve still got so much that we can show as a squad, we’ve got depth and quality… a perfect mix.”

Watch all the action from the Development Squad's Premier League International Cup victory over visitors Hertha Berlin on Wednesday evening.

City's Under-23s had to be at their best to open the Premier League International Cup with a 3-0 success over Hertha Berlin in late September.

In front of the Blue Army at King Power Stadium, defender Hughes gave the Foxes the lead inside 120 seconds before Darnell Johnson and Admiral Muskwe made sure of the result.

The German visitors fielded a strong and experienced starting XI for the clash, but Beaglehole's side were able to continue their encouraging start to the new campaign.
