The Foxes forced the Premier League leaders into extra-time and penalties in the Carabao Cup, but the shoot-out denied them a place in the semi-finals at King Power Stadium.

Bernardo Silva’s first-half opener was curtailed by Jamie Vardy at the end of normal time, but the England striker and Riyad Mahrez missed out in a dramatic 4-3 shoot-out reverse.

“I think a shoot-out never really reflects a game,” Fuchs told LCFC TV. “I think we deserved more than what we got but, nevertheless, we can be proud of how we performed.

Fuchs Proud Of Performance

Christian Fuchs spoke to LCFC TV following the penalty shoot-out defeat by Manchester City.

“Man City are top of the Premier League right now, they’re a top team. We came back in added time, I think we deserved that, and we were unlucky not to win.

“You know when you play Man City, you have to give your best. We certainly did and it’s a disappointment we’re not coming off as winners, but we can be proud of the performance.”

The retired Austria international scored his spot-kick on Filbert Way, but so too did İlkay Gündoğan, Yaya Touré, Lukas Nmecha and Gabriel Jesus for the visitors.

It was a cruel way for Leicester to exit a competition they have won three times, although Fuchs expressed the importance of drawing positives from the display and moving on.

“It was great team spirit,” he added. “The longer the game continued, the better we played. It was a great game from us, but not the result we wanted.

“Not only do we have tired legs, it’s the other team too. We tried and it didn’t work out. A penalty shoot-out is never really a fair game, it’s just very unlucky.

The feeling of disappointment we have now, we can be proud and go into the Manchester United game with a good feeling.

“It gives us a good feeling with the way we played. We didn’t win but we kept possession, it felt good and it gives us confidence back.

“We’re happy with the performance. The feeling of disappointment we have now, we can be proud and go into the United game with a good feeling.”
