In a cruel turn of events, the Foxes eventually succumbed to a 4-3 reverse on penalties with Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez being rebuffed from 12 yards during the shoot-out.

In 120 minutes, the sides could not be separated during a 1-1 draw with Bernardo Silva, in the first half, and Vardy, from the penalty spot, finding the net.

As part of his duties for LCFC Radio on Matchday Live, the former City and Northern Ireland defender reflected: “It was a great spectacle at King Power Stadium under the lights.

When it comes to penalties at the end of a hard night of football, unfortunately there has to be a loser and that was Leicester City tonight.

“In the first half, Leicester didn't really get going. But in the second half, they got amongst them and upset them. They stopped them from playing and it turned the game around.

“They brought strong players on and they changed the game. Vardy stuck away the penalty. You would say it evened itself out.”

Fuchs Proud Of Performance

Christian Fuchs spoke to LCFC TV following the penalty shoot-out defeat by Manchester City.

The lottery of penalties ultimately cost the Foxes, but Taggart insists that Claude Puel will be pleased with the application and the spirit of his side once he analyses the game.

“When it comes to penalties at the end of a hard night of football, unfortunately there has to be a loser and that was Leicester City tonight,” Taggart concluded.

“This was a good game of a football and a good performance.”
