- The Hornets will visit King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday (3pm kick-off)
- Puel says he wants to see more progress from his side after being pleased with their efforts so far
- However, the Frenchman knows Marco Silva's men will be a tough test for his in-form side

While City fell to a frustrating 2-1 reverse at Vicarage Road on Boxing Day, they have secured four points from Premier League fixtures against Huddersfield Town and Chelsea.

In contrast, Marco Silva’s Hornets are seeking a first top flight victory in three matches and travel to King Power Stadium with a five-point gap to bridge between themselves and Leicester.

Addressing the national media on Thursday, Puel said: “It was a good performance against Chelsea with quality. We played on the floor and we had a lot chances in the first half.

Puel: Continue Strong Form

Claude Puel addressed the national media ahead of Saturday's match against Watford this week.

“For the confidence, it is important because we’ve tried in the past few months to put in place a style of play with the ball on the floor and to try to have good quality.

“It was a good performance at Chelsea but we need consistency and confidence in this play. We have to keep working because it is normal.”

Puel is keen to see more expressive attacking football from his side when Watford visit Filbert Way this weekend: “It is a long process, we need to find consistency about this play.

“Watford are another team with a different style. Our last game away against them, we lost on set pieces against direct play and a powerful team.

“We know all their players and the style and it will be tough, because Watford are a good team, powerful in the duels and the battles in the opposite box.”

When the Frenchman joined the Club in October, he outlined his ambition to spark an evolution, rather than a revolution, of City’s playing style.

“I said it was important to give the squad more opportunity, more possibility and more solutions to play against any opponent and any style of play,” he continued.

“I think it was important that if Leicester play against a strong defensive unit, they have solutions. It was a good potential on the counter attack without the possibility to play a little more in set attack.

“I think, for me, my team need to have a complete game, with quality on the ball and to make some counter attacks, but to have more possession and more control of the game.

“But I think it is a long process and we need consistency. We will see in the future if we can repeat this good performance against any team and any style, but this is just the beginning of the way.”
