Following Monday’s 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the quarter-finals of the Premier League Cup, the PL2 Division 1 leaders have a real chance of success in two competitions.

Barnes scored City’s second, following a Liandro Martis strike in the first half, as the Club’s Under-23s confirmed their place in this week’s semi-final draw at Holmes Park.

Speaking to LCFC TV at full-time, the 20-year-old playmaker revealed the pride he feels to be involved with the Foxes this season and commended his colleagues for another assured display.

“We knew Wolves are a good side so they were bound to cause us threats, but I think for the majority of the game we dealt with it well and nullified most of their opportunities,” he said.

Barnes Delighted After Quarter-Finals Success

Midfielder Harvey Barnes reflects on the Development Squad's 2-0 victory over Wolves in the quarter-finals of the Premier League Cup.

"The conditions were tough, the pitch was really wet and it was really muddy so it’s hard when you get in that final third to execute the right pass but I thought the boys dealt with it quite well.”

Despite a downpour in Whetstone, Leicester still received a strong backing from the Blue Army and Barnes says that their support never goes unnoticed.

“Of course when the boys come out, if there’s a bit of a crowd out here it always helps and gives a little bit of atmosphere,” he added.

“So far we’re unbeaten here so it’s nice when the fans come out in numbers.”

City go to Sunderland in the league on Sunday (12pm kick-off) before hosting Derby County at King Power Stadium eight days later and Barnes says the squad is excited for the test to come.

“There is so much to play for and it’s been such a good season for the U23s,” he continued. “There's not long left now so it’d be nice to kick on in both competitions and hopefully get some silverware.”
