As a result, City climb to second in Premier League 2 Division 1, although they know Liverpool, who sit two points adrift in third, will host Chelsea at Anfield on Tuesday 8 May.

After Timi Max Elšnik's early 30-yard stunner for the Rams, Harvey Barnes struck twice late on and Sam Hughes added another in the final moments to overturn the scoreline.

“I was delighted from the second half onwards in our last league game of what has been a memorable campaign,” Beaglehole told LCFC TV.

“We started sloppily and conceded a goal which has crept into our game and stopped us from going on to win the league, especially when a side comes and is desperate for a point.

“They dropped off and made it very difficult for us but we were miles better in the second half, we had more tempo, the passing was crisper and we had a lot of width.”

Beaglehole was also pleased to put on a show for the supporters on Filbert Way and he says his side can use this as motivation for Friday’s Premier League Cup semi-final against Aston Villa (7pm kick-off).

Hughes: Great To Get That Winning Feeling Back

Development Squad defender Sam Hughes spoke to LCFC TV following Monday's 3-1 success over Derby County.

He added: “We had the crowd behind us, like we have always had, because I was disappointed for them at half-time, it was too slow, but fair play to the lads in the second half, it was fantastic.

“I thought Harvey Barnes and his finishing was fantastic, he made it look easy. It’s a great finish to the season and it’s just what we wanted ahead of the game on Friday.”
