The 28-year-old winger was part of Monday’s returning contingent, as the Foxes gear up for a fifth-straight campaign in the Premier League.

Before then, however, will be a month of detailed preparation – the first week being one of the most physically demanding, according to Albrighton.

Reflecting on his summer, he told LCFC TV: “It was a nice break to get away with the family and get mentally ready for the new season and also keep yourself in shape ready for this pre-season.

Recharged Albrighton Returns In High Spirits

Winger Marc Albrighton catches up with LCFC TV on City's first week back in pre-season training.

“I think nowadays, you’re obviously expected to come back at a certain level anyway and then obviously pre-season is to build on that and get ready for the season. It doesn’t get any easier!

“I’m not going to say it’s (seeing his team-mates) hard to come back to. It’s what we love doing, we love playing football and you do miss the banter when you’re away.

“You go away and you get yourself mentally prepared. You take a break mentally from football but you are ready to get back into it at some point.”

A week at Belvoir Drive, prior to the Club’s pre-season trip to Évian-les-Bains, will also allow for time with summer signings Jonny Evans and James Maddison.

“They’re good lads,” said Albrighton after meeting his new team-mates. “I think a few of the lads know them already, whether that was at England Under-21s where a few of the lads know James [Maddison] from.

“Then there’s a couple of lads that were at Man Utd with Jonny [Evans] when he was younger. I think it helps them to settle in having a couple of familiar faces about.

In terms of the group that we’ve got here, everyone’s very welcoming and everyone gets on with each other. It’s good to welcome them into the squad and we wish them well for the season.

“It’s obviously hard for people coming in when they’re new. They try and get the vibe and see what the Club’s about. I’m sure they’ll look forward to making a fresh start and getting on with the season.”
