Barnes Bags Baggies Stunner

Harvey Barnes scored a stunner on his full debut for West Bromwich Albion on Saturday as Leicester City’s loan stars began the 2018/19 season at their adopted clubs.

- Harvey Barnes scored a wonderful goal from distance on his West Bromwich Albion debut
- Defender Elliott Moore started the new Proximus League season as captain for Oud-Heverlee Leuven
- Daniel Iversen was in goal for Oldham Athletic during a 2-1 defeat by MK Dons in Sky Bet League 2

Barnes, 20, will spend the whole campaign with Darren Moore’s Sky Bet Championship outfit and the England youth international got off to a barnstorming start at The Hawthorns.

However, despite cancelling out a Josh Magennis opener for Bolton, with a curler from outside the box, the Trotters left with all three points following Yanic Wildschut’s last-minute winner.

City’s Academy product will hope to be action for West Brom once again when they travel to Nottingham Forest's City Ground on Tuesday night (7:45pm BST kick-off).

Elsewhere, defender Elliott Moore, 21, started his second full season with Belgian Proximus League side Oud-Heverlee Leuven as captain during their 1-1 draw with KV Mechelen.

In a match billed as a clash between two title contenders, Nigel Pearson’s hosts took the lead in the cusp of half-time through Frédéric Duplus at King Power at Den Dreef Stadium.

With just minutes remaining, however, Mathieu Cornet struck for Mechelen to share the spoils from a frantic clash in 34-degree heat in Leuven.

OH Leuven take on Union-Saint Gilloise at Joseph Marienstadion on Sunday (3pm BST kick-off).

Finally, 21-year-old Foxes goalkeeper Daniel Iversen made his first appearance for League 2 side Oldham Athletic during a 2-1 home defeat by MK Dons on Saturday.

Kieran Agard and Ryan Harley struck for the Dons early on at Boundary Park before Dan Gardner halved the deficit, but it wasn’t enough for the hosts to mount a comeback.

Oldham next tackle Forest Green Rovers on Saturday (3pm BST kick-off).
