City head into the fixture on the back of a 2-0 triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers at King Power Stadium, with Albrighton providing the cross that was eventually turned in by Matt Doherty.

The 28-year-old says his side’s focus is solely on recording a second consecutive win in England’s top flight ahead of two home fixtures in the space of just five days.

“Your main objective of a Saturday afternoon is your three points and we got them [against Wolves],” Albrighton told LCFC TV.

“The performance wasn’t where we wanted it, there were bits of the performance that we need to improve on and we need to make sure that we get the details right for the coming weeks.

“We’ll start with the Southampton game – we need to nail down a few things and hopefully we can sort them little details out and get the performance to match the result.

“We’re going there to win the game, we’re not going there for a point. We’re going there for the full three points and that’s what we’ll be aiming to do.”

Mark Hughes’ Saints were defeated 2-1 by Everton at Goodison Park last weekend, despite a determined second-half display.

“Southampton have changed a lot from last season when they did play them,” Albrighton said of last season’s 4-1 win on the south coast.

You have to be on your guard and you have to make sure you go there and give nothing less than 100 per cent. If we can match them in that department, then I think we’ve got the quality all over the pitch to better them footballing wise.

“They’ve obviously changed the manager and he’s got them more grouped together in terms of their team spirit.

“They seem to have a bit more fight about them now. That’s always dangerous when you come up against a team that are willing to work for another and willing to fight for one another.

“You have to be on your guard and you have to make sure you go there and give nothing less than 100 per cent. If we can match them in that department, then I think we’ve got the quality all over the pitch to better them footballing wise.”
