Mendy Thrilled For The Future

The impressive Mendy started his third-straight Premier League game for the Foxes, having previously helped them to victories over Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton.

The Frenchman knows the clash with the Reds could have produced a different outcome, and while disappointed not to claim at least a point, there’s positives to take for Claude Puel’s men.

“We conceded too early against a big team,” says Mendy. “It’s difficult to come back and to do a result. We played well. We had a good team spirit which is good for the future.

“It’s the beginning of the season. We have a lot of new players in the team and I think in future we’ll play better and have a good result.”

Liverpool have proved to be a formidable force in the Premier League this term, and City will learn from their encounter with them, according to Mendy.

He added: “They gave a lot of intensity. They have very good players who play well and know each other. They’re very fast in front. We played very well, we lost, but we learn.

 “For the next game, we have a big confidence because we played well today. We will recover for next week against Bournemouth.”
