With no Premier League or Championship games on, it provides a platform for local teams to promote the importance of affordable and volunteer-led football.
Any profits made by the non-league clubs often fund projects and facilities that ultimately benefit the whole community.

Vardy joined City from then non-league side Fleetwood Town in 2012.
Vardy knows the importance of Non-League Day well, having joined the Foxes from then non-league side Fleetwood Town in 2012, after spells with Halifax Town and Stocksbridge Park Steels.
The 31-year-old has since gone on the win the Premier League with City as well as representing England at a World Cup and is well aware of the talent that exists at non-league level.
Jamie said: “Non-League Day is a great opportunity for non-league players to showcase their talent, and there’s a lot of it out there. I remember from my time playing non-league football, I was coming up against players who should’ve had pro clubs; they shouldn’t be overlooked.
