- Harvey Barnes scored his eighth goal of the season for West Bromwich Albion on Monday

The 21-year-old Croatian defender, who joined Leicester City from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer, has been a star performer for Brendan Rodgers' Scottish champions this season.

Starting alongside Dedryck Boyata in Glasgow, Benković was instrumental as the Bhoys sealed a 10th cleansheet in the 12 games in which the central defender has been involved.

Ryan Christie scored the only goal of the game and, while Scott Sinclair saw a penalty saved by Aberdeen goalkeeper Joe Lewis, Celtic held on to secure yet another trophy.

Elsewhere, midfielder Bartosz Kapustka found the net for Oud-Heverlee Leuven in a 3-1 success over Lommel at King Power at Den Dreef Stadium on Saturday.

Kapustka sent OHL on their way to victory with a tidily-taken goal.

Starting in the same line-up as Academy graduate Elliott Moore, the Polish star opened the scoring for Nigel Pearson's men, before strikes from Joeri Dequevy and Frédéric Duplus.

OHL are currently sixth in the eight-team Proximus League standings, although all teams will start afresh in the second phase of the competition over the coming weeks.

If phase one winners Mechelen fail to win the second phase, the top-placed side of each phase will face one another in a two-legged play-off, with the victors promoted to the Belgian Jupiler League.

Midfielder George Thomas, meanwhile, also started the match as Scunthorpe United fell to a 1-0 defeat at Shrewsbury Town in the Emirates FA Cup Second Round on Saturday.

An eight goal of the season came for Barnes on Monday.

It was a more successful outing for Daniel Iversen, however, as the Danish stopper kept a cleansheet in a 2-0 success at Maidstone United, sealing their place in Monday's third round draw.

On Monday, Harvey Barnes, scored his eighth goal for West Bromwich Albion, but it wasn't enough to seal victory over Brentford, who held the Baggies to a 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns in the Sky Bet Championship.

Islam Slimani was an unused substitute in Fenerbahçe's 0-0 UEFA Europa League draw with Dinamo Zagreb last Thursday, while young goalkeeper Max Bramley also didn't feature for AFC Telford.
