Claude Puel’s outfit won 1-0 at Goodison Park after Jamie Vardy capitalised on Michael Keane’s defensive error just before the hour mark.

Evans, excellent at the back for City on Merseyside, felt his side did brilliantly to absorb Everton’s pressure throughout the encounter.

Evans told LCFC TV: “It was scrappy first half, but I think you could see how much it meant to everyone at the end to get that victory, it was a bit of a battle today, it’s a tough place to come.

"[In] the first half, we didn’t play well and they didn’t play well either and I think it was a case that both teams would’ve been looking forward to the half-time whistle and to get in to regroup.

Evans: It Was A Battle

Leicester City defender Jonny Evans spoke to LCFC TV following their 1-0 victory away at Everton in the Premier League.

“I thought our play was a bit better in the second half and once we got the goal, the objective then is to hold onto that lead.

“We knew they were going to put a lot of pressure on and they did. We defended quite well as a team and like I say, we really enjoyed the victory.”

Evans felt the way City set up allowed them to defend from the front against the Toffees, while he also underlined the togetherness they showed at Goodison Park.

“We are a really hard-working team and this manager is a really good defensive coach and he works on it a lot,” added the Northern Ireland defender.

“It’s a difficult finish for him (Jamie Vardy) on his left side but he showed good composure and he’s always a threat for us especially away from home where you know teams push a lot of bodies forward

“You can see the team shape from how we close the ball down. When the lads in front close the ball down, it makes it a lot easier for us defenders to be able to try and read things and defend, it was a real team performance.”

Vardy’s seventh Premier League goal of the 2018/19 Premier League campaign came as a result of a clinical finish past England international goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

“It’s a difficult finish for him on his left side but he showed good composure and he’s always a threat for us especially away from home where you know teams push a lot of bodies forward,” said Evans.

“He can always hurt teams on the break and it was a great finish.”
