Able to operate at either right-back or centre-back, defender Darnell Johnson has quickly become one of the most exciting prospects at the Club’s Academy.
Johnson is also the godson of City Academy graduate and former England striker Emile Heskey and joined the Club at the age of 10.
In the summer of 2017, Johnson was a key figure behind the Club's second Hong Kong Citi Soccer Sevens title.
He also tasted success on the international stage, making three appearances, including in the final, as England won the 2017 UEFA U19 European Championship in Georgia.
Following his summer of success, Johnson returned to Leicester City’s Development Squad where he helped the side finish third in division one of Premier League 2 in their 2017/18 campaign.
The defender featured heavily for the first team in pre-season in 2018, appearing in each of Leicester City’s games against Notts County, Akhisarspor, Udinese, Valencia and Lille.
Following 24 appearances in 2018/19, during which he shared the captain’s armband with Hamza Choudhury, Johnson then had a short spell with Scottish Premiership side Hibernian on loan.
