Heskey, who went on to earn 62 caps for England, recently joined fellow Foxes favourites Matt Elliott, Tony Cottee and Gerry Taggart for a special '90s Throwback event at King Power Stadium.
To celebrate the launch of a new Retro Range, with City's iconic 1996-98 shirts now available, Heskey also looked to the future, assessing how his boyhood club could fare over the coming months.
After winning three and drawing two of their opening six Premier League matches, while also progressing into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, City have started the campaign brightly.
With Newcastle United next up on Filbert Way this Sunday afternoon (4:30pm BST kick-off), the Foxes are currently sat in third place in the league standings with 11 points to their name.
Emile Heskey
Emile Heskey scored 46 goals for the Foxes in the late nineties.
Asked how he perceives the current mood in Rodgers' squad, the Club's popular former striker, speaking pitchside at King Power Stadium, told LCFC TV: "I would say confident, extremely confident.
"I think that’s what Brendan Rodgers has brought – a confidence in such a young bunch of lads. A lot of them are 22 or under, which is crazy! I know from playing at that age that it’s not easy.
"They seem to be taking it in their stride, not only that, but playing with a lot of confidence. When you see the young lads, they’re actually doing well at international level as well.
"They're coming back here and doing well as well, playing with confidence, playing with the ability that we know they can, and they are actually showing it now… it’s fantastic."
Seasons can be very long, as you know, even when we look at the title-winning season, everyone was looking at Christmas as a really important time.

Heskey has watched on with a sense of satisfaction as Rodgers continues to inspire a youthful Foxes squad to reach their potential and challenge among the Premier League's elite sides.
"I think he’s done brilliantly," the 41-year-old continued. "It’s not easy coming into a squad when you want to lay a foundation on what you want them to do.
"Everywhere he seems to go, he seems to actually get everyone on side and everyone understands what sort of football that he wants to play – being on the front foot, the pressing game.
"He’s got a good bunch of young lads who actually understand that and want to do that. When you add a bit of flair to that, it’s exciting, it’s good to watch as well.
Gerry Taggart, Emile Heskey, Tony Cottee and Matt Elliott
Emile Heskey was one of four legends to model the Club's new Retro Range, alongside Tony Cottee, Matt Elliott and Gerry Taggart.
Outlining what City can achieve this term, Heskey insists little can be predicted until the typically difficult festive period has been dealt with, saying the picture will be clearer in the New Year.
"I think it’s one step at a time," he added. "Seasons can be very long, as you know, even when we look at the title-winning season, everyone was looking at Christmas as a really important time.
"The amount of games that come around at Christmas back-to-back, let’s get to there first. Let’s see how we progress and let’s see how the results go. I’d be happy with a top-eight."
