Slimani & Silva Star As Monaco Win Again

Islam Slimani and Adrien Silva were once again successful in AS Monaco's colours as six Leicester City players starred for their loan clubs over the past weekend.
More on this story...

- Six Leicester City players represented their respective loan clubs over the most recent weekend
- Islam Slimani and Adrien Silva helped Monaco to a second successive victory in Ligue 1
- Forward Fousseni Diabaté also featured in a 2-2 draw for Amiens against AS Saint-Étienne
- Kamal Sowah scored for OH Lueven, while Josh Knight and Daniel Iversen also starred in the Football League

A fourth win in five matches - a 1-0 win over Nantes on Friday - fires Les Monégasques up to 11th in the French Ligue 1 standings as both Slimani and Silva started at Stade de la Beaujoire.

Silva has appeared on nine occasions for the one-time French champions, while Slimani has netted five times and completed six assists in just eight outings for Leonardo Jardim's men.

Next up, on Wednesday, Monaco take a break from Ligue 1 action as they welcome Marseille to Stade Louis II in the Round of 32 stage of the Coupe de la Ligue (8:05pm kick-off).

Also in France, forward Fousseni Diabaté made his sixth appearance for Amiens during a 2-2 draw with Claude Puel's AS Saint-Étienne at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Sunday.

Amiens twice had to come from behind as Stiven Mendoza and Chadrac Akolo equalised following Wahbi Khazri's opener and an own goal from Bakaye Dibassy, while Diabaté played 63 minutes.

Like Monaco, Amiens are next in action on Wednesday evening, when they host Ligue 1 rivals Angers at Stade de la Licorne in the Coupe de la Ligue (8:05pm kick-off).

In Belgium, on the other hand, midfielder Kamal Sowah marked his 11th outing for Oud-Heverlee Leuven with his second goal of the 2019/20 season in a vital 2-1 win over Westerlo.

In a clash between first and second in the Belgian Proximus League, OHL took the lead early on at King Power at Den Dreef Stadium, courtesy of Sowah's deft glanced header in the 23rd minute.

Vincent Euvrard's men were two goals up five minutes later through Thomas Henry and, while Fabian Antunes netted before the break, OH Leuven held on, even after Aboubakar Keita's 83rd minute red card.

OHL's bid to win the first phase continues on Friday evening when they entertain Union Saint-Gilloise (7:30pm kick-off), while Euvrard's side currently hold a slender one-point lead over Virton in the standings.

Academy graduate Josh Knight, meanwhile, continues to be a key member of Darren Ferguson's Peterborough United side, who drew 2-2 with Coventry City in Sky League 1 on Saturday.

Marcus Maddison's penalty and a 95th-minute equaliser from Mohamed Eisa sealed a precious point for the Posh, who are currently third in the table, two points adrift of leaders Ipswich Town.

Knight could make his 15th league appearance for Peterborough on Saturday when Ferguson's promotion hunters travel to Bloomfield Road to face Blackpool (3pm kick-off).

Finally, goalkeeper Daniel Iversen, another young Fox to be playing regularly, starred for the 13th time in League 1 as Rotherham United were beaten 1-0 by Wycombe Wanderers at New York Stadium.

Andy King (Rangers), Rachid Ghezzal (Fiorentina), Layton Ndukwu (Southend United), Ryan Loft (Carlisle United) and Sam Hughes (Salford City) did not feature.
