Morgan: Durham Will Provide A Stern Test

- The Foxes have taken four points from the opening two games of the league season
- Captain Holly Morgan previews the clash, highlighting Durham's attacking threats
- She also talks about City's positive start to the FA Women's Championship campaign

Following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the Women's FA Cup quarter-finals, the defender is looking forward to being back in league action, with all focus concentrated on the weekend visit of Durham.

Whilst anticipating the threats the Wildcats will pose, Morgan knows the quality Leicester possess can be more than a match for Lee Sanders' side.

"We are well aware of who they are as a team and how they play," the 27-year-old told LCFC TV. "We can't deny the fact that it will be a tough contest but we're ready to go.

"We're excited for it and happy to be back to league games. We're working hard so we're looking forward to Sunday and putting on a show.

Morgan says she is looking forward to getting back to league action against Durham this weekend.

"We can never just go into a game against Durham and think it's going to be easy or that it's ever going to be an easy contest.

"We know they are a very good team and going forward they are very threatening, we're very much aware of that.

"We understand that if they have their chances, then they'll take them, so we have to reduce the amount of chances that they get, limit that and make sure that we take our chances too."

City will be able to welcome back several players who missed last weekend's cup tie due to competition rules only allowing six of the Foxes' new signings to feature.

After winning their opening home league fixture of the new season, against Blackburn Rovers, Morgan is hoping for more of the same against Durham, who have also made an unbeaten start to the season.

Morgan helped City keep a clean sheet in the opening day victory over Blackburn Rovers Ladies.

She continued: "Our squad depth is fantastic so we can rely on so many players to play in so many different positions, to be in the team, to be out the team.

"It gives us a lot of comfort in knowing that we've got so many players that we can call upon.

"So I think the players coming back in for this fixture will be just as important as the players all around the pitch.

"Playing at home, it's your fortress, you want to defend it with your life, you don't want anybody to come to your home ground and just walk all over you.

"We're comfortable at our home ground, we know it well, we like playing there, but it's a shame of course that we don't have our supporters there.

LCFC Women 1 Manchester City 2

LCFC Women pushed Women's Super League giants Manchester City all the way in this rescheduled quarter-final of last season's Women's FA Cup at Farley Way Stadium.

"We play every home game with the intention of winning and defending it as well as we can."

She still sees room for improvement and is excited by the prospect of City becoming even stronger as they continue to gel as a team.

"For us it's a transitional year, this is the first season that we've gone full-time, we've had quite a few new players coming in," Morgan reflected.

"That in itself takes time for things to be working properly and efficiently, as well as they can, but to get four points from the first two games is a positive start for us.

"The biggest positive is that we know we can be better and will be better, so it's exciting that if this is where we are now, we're excited to see where we are going to be in the next few months. We know we are only going to grow, get better and develop and progress."
