The Foxes are looking to recover from the setback against West Ham United last time out, having previously held a 100% record in their 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

Bouncing back from that disappointment this weekend is key to continuing what has been a positive start to the season, according to Pérez.

"We know it's a long week, too many days, especially after the defeat against West Ham," he admitted when speaking to LCFC TV.

"It wasn't a good performance from the team and the first thing you think about is you want to bounce back straight away in the next game.

Pérez started City's defeat at home to West Ham and believes the Foxes must now learn from their mistakes.

"It's been almost two weeks until we've got Aston Villa, which is going to be another tough test for us.

"But we're thinking, well, we can learn, we can do better from our last game to keep getting the good results.

"We've still had a good start, nine out of 12, obviously we were looking for 12 out of 12, but we're looking forward to playing Aston Villa."

Sunday's opponents have also started the season in fine form, winning all three of their opening fixtures, to sit second in the Premier League table.

An impressive 7-2 victory over Liverpool at Villa Park followed results over Fulham and Sheffield United, with Pérez knowing that they will be heading to King Power Stadium full of momentum.

He continued: "They are doing well as well, so it will be a very tough game. Playing at home we need to make sure we are a strong side at home.

It's more about us, what we didn't do well against West Ham that we've got to do better against Aston Villa. It's more the way we prepare our game.

"It's a tricky one because they've got confidence now, they're doing well, so you don't really know what to expect.

"You think they may come and play five at the back, or they might play four, I don't know what they are thinking right now."

The Spaniard says preparations have been going well at Belvoir Drive, despite the international break seeing many of the squad travel away with their respective countries.

"It's more about us, what we didn't do well against West Ham that we've got to do better against Aston Villa. It's more the way we prepare our game," the 27-year-old added.

"Obviously with the international guys away it's always a little bit more difficult, but once they are back, we can prepare for the game and make sure we are totally ready for it."
