'Excited For What It Will Bring' – Maddison's New-Season Hunger

- He is also optimistic that, with the Blue Army behind them, City can get off to a positive start

It's an exciting first chapter for the Foxes in August with away trips at Arsenal and Chelsea alongside two other home clashes with Southampton and Manchester United. Leicester ended the last campaign in eighth place while also reaching the last-four of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Maddison, meanwhile, enjoyed a profitable campaign for the Foxes, netting 18 times in all competitions and becoming the first player since 2018 to register double figures of both goals and assists. City's No.10 is now looking forward to the Club's ninth consecutive Premier League adventure.

“I always look forward to fixture release day because not only does it give you a buzz finding out who you’re playing first, it also means that the new Premier League season isn’t too far away,” Leicester City's 2021/22 Player of the Season said this week.

I contributed towards the team’s success and was delighted to score 18 goals and register 12 assists in all competitions. I know I can get even better though, so I’ll be looking to keep my numbers up and keep helping the team this season.

“We’ve had a great few seasons and the Club continues to go from strength to strength so we’ll be looking to continue that success this year. We’re all hungry to do well and improve as a team, so I’m excited for what the 2022/23 campaign will bring.”

The Foxes took maximum points from Brentford last season on the capital club's debut year in the Premier League. That record, plus the fact City will be playing in front of the Blue Army on Filbert Way, can be beneficial for Brendan Rodgers' men, Maddison believes.

“As a player, a home game to start the season is what you always want and I’m sure it’s the same for the supporters too,” he added.

“We had two close games against Brentford last season and both teams will want to start their season on the front foot, but having the home advantage is going to give us a huge boost going into that game.

“On a personal level, last season was a really positive one for me. I contributed towards the team’s success and was delighted to score 18 goals and register 12 assists in all competitions. I know I can get even better though, so I’ll be looking to keep my numbers up and keep helping the team this season.”
