- Two own goals secured the Reds' victory in the Premier League fixture
- City face Fulham at King Power Stadium on Tuesday (7:45pm kick-off)
- Luke Thomas is confident the team will bounce back at the start of the New Year

Since the restart, following the conclusion of the FIFA World Cup, Leicester have failed to pick up a point in the Premier League standings, after a Boxing Day reverse against Newcastle United, prior to Friday night's loss at Anfield.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall gave the Foxes the lead in the fourth minute in Merseyside, but an unfortunate pair of own goals from Wout Faes handed the win to Liverpool, in a 2-1 scoreline.

However, young full-back Thomas is confident that the team can produce better, as they hope to get back on form when meeting the Cottagers in Tuesday evening's 7:45pm kick-off at King Power Stadium.

“Fulham are doing well this season,” the defender told LCFC TV. “They’re getting results and looking like a strong side. We know it’ll be a challenge, but we’ll look to get three points in the first week of 2023.

“It’s like a fresh start I suppose, a New Year and hopefully we get can the points. We weren’t at our level at all against Newcastle, so we’ll go out on Tuesday, playing our game to hopefully come away with a positive result.”

Reminiscing about the excellent City form before the break, the 21-year-old explains how the squad are building towards a strong start to 2023 against a newly-promoted Fulham side who have impressed so far this term.

The target for us is to try and climb as high as possible throughout the second half of the season.

“We were in great form heading into the World Cup,” he continued. “We didn’t concede many goals, and we’re looking to get back to that winning form soon.

“The target for us is to try and climb as high as possible throughout the second half of the season and we’ll look to do that and start that process against Fulham.

“We’ll get back into training and have a look at the threats they [Fulham] pose over the next few days. We know the strengths that they’ve got, and we’ll look to stop them.”
