Daka: There’s Belief Within The Group
- Leicester City and Brentford are set to go head-to-head in the Premier League
- Gtech Community Stadium is the venue for Saturday 3pm GMT kick-off
- Patson Daka took time out to look ahead to the fixture with LCFC TV
- The Foxes striker acknowledged that City must do more to alleviate current fears
A run of four Premier League defeats leaves the Foxes placed 16th and in a precarious position at a crucial point in the season. However, Daka insists City have the mentality and quality to respond, starting at Gtech Community Stadium.
“It’s frustration, but also mixed emotions,” he admitted to LCFC TV. “There are also a lot of positives that we can look at. We are creating a lot of chances, but I think we just have to work more in the end product. That’s what we are lacking.
“If you look at the previous three games we’ve played, we’ve created so many chances, but it’s just getting the ball in the back of the net that has been missing. We all know that we’ve got the quality and will be able to make the best of the chances that we create in the next game.
“The belief has never gone away. We still have the belief. We trust in each other; we believe in each other’s qualities. This is the moment we need to support each other more. Everyone knows what they have to do, and I believe together we can do it.”
The upcoming clash against the Bees, a side flying high in the top half of the table, who have lost just one home game so far this term, is not a straightforward task.
The 24-year-old explained: “Every position in the Premier League is tough, to be honest. It’s just how you approach the game and I’m very much sure, looking at how we’ve started preparing this week, we are heading in the right direction. We will be ready to face Brentford.
“It’s not going to be easy. They are on a good run; they are a strong side. But also, football is football. Every game is different, every opponent is different, so we just need to go in with the right attitude and the right approach and look forward to getting maximum points.”
You first have to believe in yourself and the quality that you have. Everyone else is going to believe in you in the end.Patson Daka LCFC TV
Daka, on target during Leicester’s last outing, a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Chelsea, is the only Foxes player to score across the previous four league games. He hopes that can give him the confidence to hit the target again this weekend.
He added: “I think we needed that [goal] as a team first of all and one thing that was in mind at that moment was to shoot. I didn’t care what position it was in – whether it was on my left foot or right foot. Thankfully it was meant to go in. It was a beautiful goal in the end.
“I would say 99 per cent of my goals are from inside the box. I would say I’ve only scored maybe not even more than five outside of the box and I think it was something that I was working on. It’s not every time that you get chances in the box.
Patson Daka vs. Chelsea
Patson Daka nets for the Foxes in a 3-1 defeat by Chelsea at King Power Stadium.
“If you’ve got the opportunity to have the chance outside the box, you just have to try your luck and you never know what might happen.
“You first have to believe in yourself and the quality that you have. Everyone else is going to believe in you in the end. For me, as a striker, everyone expects that you are going to score goals.
“If you don’t have that belief, or if you don’t make your team-mates believe when they give you the ball, then there’s no point in you being there. It’s just a matter of not feeling the pressure, but just showing what you can do.”
