Already into August, as the dawn of the new season approaches, City are eager to secure a return to the Premier League as soon as possible. The first test sees rivals Coventry arrive on Filbert Way this Sunday, and one player excited for the challenge is defender Doyle, who spent last season on loan with the Sky Blues, before joining Enzo Maresca’s Foxes for the 2023/24 campaign.

“It’s been a good couple of weeks,” the 19-year-old told CITY, the official LCFC programme. “Obviously, we went away on tour to Thailand and Singapore as well. It was really nice to be out there, to see the Thai fans, and get a tough game in the legs against Liverpool.

Doyle joined the Foxes on loan from Manchester City this summer.

“It was important that we all had something to learn from in that game going into this big week. I’m settling in well and just can’t wait to get started.

“The trip made it easier to click. It was nice getting to know all the lads. It was easy, I have to say. The lads are great and have made me feel welcome. I feel comfortable around them.”

Doyle is one of five new additions to City’s camp, who have had a summer of re-build under new manager Maresca – a man that the youngster has worked with before during his time in the academy system at Manchester City.

Enzo is great. He’s on to us. He wants us to win and get that winning mentality as soon as possible.

Already familiar with his philosophy and style of play, the centre-back had nothing but praise for the Italian and reveals there is a good feeling in the dressing room.

“It’s a new style of play for the team,” the former Sunderland defender explained. “I’ve worked with the manager before. The lads are excited to get going and obviously do what the manager has taught us.

“When I was at Man City, we played this way before, but it’s still new though. Enzo is great. He’s on to us. He wants us to win and get that winning mentality as soon as possible.”
