The summer signing produced the moment of magic with 73 minutes on the clock in west Yorkshire, before wheeling off in celebration in front of the 2,326-strong travelling support. Leicester managed to see the game out in the final minutes, maintaining their 100 per cent record so far in 2023/24.

“It was honestly the best feeling to get the winning goal and to get the three points at the end, it was just the cherry on top,” the 25-year-old beamed.

It was a great game. I thought everyone adjusted well and we were happy to come out with the three points.

“Obviously it was a different team today to what we were playing against Coventry. Huddersfield are more of a fighting team so we had to adjust our game a bit, but I thought the lads did well and everyone dug it out until the end and got the three points.

“They went man for man, so it was just about winning your individual duels to come out on top. It was a great game. I thought everyone adjusted well to the game and we were happy to come out with the three points.”

His first Leicester goal, it was exactly the impact that Manager Enzo Maresca would want from the former Montpellier attacker, firing the Foxes up to second position in the early Sky Championship table, having also defeated Coventry City.

The forward explained: “I feel like every manager is different, they share different ideas and there’s different roles you have to play. I’m enjoying my time under Enzo and I’m just learning and taking it game by game.”

While acknowledging that it has been a positive start to the season, Mavididi admitted that there is still such a long way still to go, with focus now shifting to facing Cardiff City at King Power Stadium next Saturday (3pm BST kick-off).

He added: “Like we said in the dressing room, there’s 44 more games. Obviously, he was pleased for us to pick up three points like we did, because it was a difficult game and it’s a difficult ground to come to.

“Now is not the time now to take our feet off though. Obviously we’ve just got to use our time wisely to prepare for the next couple of games.”
