Victory For Kristiansen; Brunt Claims Assist – Latest Loan Action

Bologna’s winning streak continued in Serie A as they defeated Hellas Verona 2-0 at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara last Friday, with Victor Kristiansen once again playing 90 minutes.

A fifth consecutive success for I Rossoblù, courtesy of a goal in each half, saw Thiago Motta’s side move up to fourth in the table ahead of meeting fifth-place Atalanta on Sunday (5pm kick-off). Denmark left-back Kristiansen has made 24 appearances so far this term and looks on course to help the club secure a European spot.

A late Luka Modric goal proved the difference for Real Madrid at the weekend, ending Sevilla’s good run of form in La Liga. Another 90 minutes for loanee Boubakary Soumaré at Santiago Bernabeu saw his tally of appearances stretch to 23. Remaining 15th in the standings, Real Sociedad are up next for Rojiblancos at Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán this Saturday (1pm kick-off).

Luke Thomas made his second start for Middlesbrough in a 2-0 home defeat to Plymouth Argyle in the Sky Bet Championship last time out. Playing 80 minutes at Riverside Stadium, the full-back could be back in action for Michael Carrick’s men away to Stoke City this Saturday (3pm kick-off), as they look to move back into the top half of the table.

Staying in the EFL, Mansfield Town are top of Sky Bet League 2 following a 5-1 victory over Salford City at Field Mill, with Lewis Brunt once again playing throughout at the heart of the Stags’ defence, assisting Lucas Akins for the fourth goal. Goal difference now separates Town from Stockport County in second, prior to travelling to Newport County on Saturday (3pm kick-off).   

Over in the Netherlands, there was another 90 minutes for Zach Booth in FC Volendam’s 4-0 defeat at home to Heerenveen, the 20-year-old attacker’s 17th league appearance. The club are 18th in the Eredivisie with NEC Nijmegen up next on Friday night (7pm kick-off).

Across the border in Belgium, striker Nathan Opoku was handed a second successive start for OH Leuven last weekend, featuring across the opening 67 minutes as they played out a 1-1 draw with RWD Molenbeek. Currently 12th in the Jupiler Pro League, Leuven take on league leaders Union Saint-Gilloise this Saturday (5:15pm kick-off).

Defender Paul Appiah was suspended for Maidstone United’s defeat to Coventry City in the Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round on Monday but could return to the side for Saturday’s clash with Dover Athletic in National League South on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
