Vardy: Another Three Points To Play For

Reaching 100 points at the end of a promotion-securing, Sky Bet Championship title-winning campaign would be the fitting conclusion to another remarkable campaign for Jamie Vardy.

The 37-year-old has scored 20 goals in all competitions for the Foxes this term and will be looking to add to that tally when Blackburn Rovers are the visitors to King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Much of the focus of that game will be placed on City lifting the trophy at full-time and Blackburn's own relegation permutations, but for Vardy it's all about making more history and reaching 100 points.

Speaking at the end of a brilliant night of celebrations at Deepdale after scoring twice in the 3-0 win over Preston North End, the Premier League, FA Cup, Community Shield and now two-time Championship champion explained his focus.

Vardy: Another Game To Go

Brace-scoring Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy speaks after the Sky Bet Championship title-winning victory at Preston North End.

"We’ve still got another game to go," Leicester's No.9 said. "We’ll get to lift the trophy and hopefully get another win in front of our home fans and make sure we can all celebrate it together.

"Yes, we’re champions, but we still want to get another three points. There’s a chance for us to finish on 100 points for the season. We’ll celebrate this, make sure we’re recovered, and go again on Saturday."

Vardy also paid tribute to the near-6,000 away fans who sung the night away in the rain in Lancashire.

"They were absolutely brilliant all night," he added. "Not one of them has left. To be joining in with them now, knowing that they’ve travelled all that way as well – it’s not like it’s up the road, it’s a good two-three hours – so for them to come here and celebrate like that, it’s unbelievable."

Leicester Seal The Title At Preston

Jamie Vardy scores two and Kasey McAteer also nets as Leicester City clinch the Sky Bet Championship title with a 3-0 win at Preston North End.

His second goal of the night came about after a marauding Wout Faes gallop ended with the Belgian centre-back clattering the post and Vardy being in the right place at the right time to finish the rebound.

"Wout does that in training all the time," the former Fleetwood Town striker explained.

"He doesn’t get to show it when he’s obviously in the centre of a back four. With him being on the left tonight, it gave him that opportunity to get forward a bit more and he’s shown you what he can do.

"I’m happy I’ve scored, but it would have been even wilder if that would have sneaked in as well!"
