Thomas has featured 16 times for the Leicester City Development Squad this season, scoring on five occasions, including a brace at home to Leeds back in March.

Chosen by the coaching staff, the forward was delighted to scoop such an award and admits a lot of people could’ve won on the evening, but he is proud that his hard work has paid off.

“I feel really good to win this award,” Thomas stated. “A lot of people could’ve been nominated for this, and I think they would deserve it, but I really appreciate getting this award. I appreciate everyone, the staff and the players, for voting for me.

“It means a lot because the hard work has paid off. I’ve been working hard all season and I think I do deserve it in a way, and like I said before, a lot of players deserve it but I’ve been working hard and I’m really happy. Now, looking at this award, it’s one step closer to where I want to be and I just want to keep pushing on to do better.”

'One Step Closer To Where I Want To Be'

Silko Thomas was Tuesday's winner of the Men's Development Squad Player of the Season award.

In the younger age group, Briggs was ecstatic to win the award for his performances throughout the campaign which started with the Leicester City Under-18s before moving up to the Under-21s, where he made 13 appearances, scoring once.

“I’m pretty buzzing to win this award,” the Men's Academy Player of the Season explained. “It was tough competition, because I’m with a group of lads that are amazing on and off the pitch, so I feel privileged to get this award.

“I really appreciate the coaches and all the hard work they’ve put into me this season. They’ve got a vision for me for the future so it’s really nice for them to give me this award.

“It’s been a tough year for all of us, but we’ve ended the season well and we’re looking forward to next season and seeing what we can achieve. I’m ready to push on.”

Finishing the PL2 season outside the second stage play-offs, the Development Squad did manage to end on a high with back-to-back victories, which included a final-day win over second-placed West Ham United.

'Privileged To Win This Award'

Logan Briggs picks up the Academy award Following a successful year with the Leicester City Under-18s.

Having also made the bench for the senior squad, Briggs is hoping that next season will be as beneficial for his development, which includes more award evening’s such as this one.

He added: “It’s been a really good year of development for myself. I’m buzzing about my own performances this season, and being in the Under-18s, I’ve been pushing on to the Under-21s and the bench for the First Team, so it’s been an unreal year.

“It seems crazy to me that it’s all happening at once, but I love it. I love putting a suit on so tonight has been nice. Seeing all the people here has been great and something I want to get used to.”
