Ranieri: For The Fans

- The Foxes earned a deserved win thanks to Jamie Vardy’s hat-trick and a strike from Andy King 

- Ranieri is already focusing on Tuesday evening’s Premier League trip to Bournemouth in a bid to improve his side's away form

Claudio Ranieri dedicated Leicester City’s brilliant 4-2 Premier League victory over Manchester City to the Club’s fans. 

The Foxes stormed into a 3-0 lead inside 20 minutes thanks to a double from Jamie Vardy and Andy King’s fifth-minute strike. 

A fourth came with 12 minutes to play from who else but Vardy, who rounded Claudio Bravo and rolled in from the tightest of angles for his first-ever hat-trick in Leicester blue. 

Aleksandar Kolarov and Nolito netted late on to narrow arrears, but City’s earlier dominance proved too much for Pep Guardiola’s outfit. 

“It was special because we wanted to give something different to our fans,” Ranieri said. “We haven’t played well so far, so we spoke a lot after Porto and we reacted very well. 

“It was important to make this kind of performance against Man City because they were so far the best team away in the Premier League. 

“To get points is important for the table but this is just a little step because now we have to clear our minds and think about the next match against Bournemouth and then Stoke, because away we didn’t get points so far in the Premier League."

Ranieri was delighted with Vardy’s ruthlessness up front, as City’s No.9 scored his first Premier League goals since September. 

The City boss added: “[Jamie] Vardy played so well, it is important for him to get back. Never he tell me, I need to score. Never, but I know the goalscorer needs to score goals. 

“I said to all my players it is important what we do for the team and everybody made a fantastic performance. 

“Of course Vardy, [Riyad] Mahrez and [Islam] Slimani do something different. It was fantastic to see. I don’t know if he (Vardy) can go on a run, I hope so, if he scores, we get the points.”
