Winning Mentality Earns Beaglehole Praise

After a fourth consecutive Barclays U21 Premier League win, Development Squad manager Steve Beaglehole heaped praised on his side for their winning mentality.

City’s Under-21s at King Power Stadium on Monday evening to extend their unbeaten run to eight games in all competitions.
Strikes from Simonas Stankevicius and Danny Drinkwater and a penalty from Jak McCourt helped City move up to third in the league, just two points off table-topping Manchester United.
“It’s important to finish as high as possible,” Beaglehole said. “I’ve told all the lads about the importance of winning games and having a winning mentality. This group of players have certainly got that.
“To stay in this league was the achievement. That was one of three goals that I set the players, with the biggest one to stay in the top tier. That meant finishing above at least two teams and the win against Tottenham will help us to do that.”
The Foxes are now presented with a testing run of fixtures. Next up is a trip to Manchester City on Sunday 5 April before two ties against Liverpool either side of a home clash against league-leaders Manchester United.
Insisting every remaining game will be a challenge for his side, Beaglehole added: “All the teams have got good players, whether they put youth team players or some senior players in. Even players coming back from injury.
“They’re all difficult games, but the way these lads are going about their jobs, they don’t need to fear going to Man City. It’s a game that we know we’ve got a chance of winning.”
