Testing Day Starts Countdown To Pre Season

Preliminary preparations for Leicester City’s 2015/16 campaign got under way on Wednesday, as the first batch of first team players underwent close-season testing.

A group including Ritchie De Laet, David Nugent and new boy Robert Huth reported to a hot and humid Belvoir Drive ahead of pre-season training starting in earnest next week.
The players were put through a series of tests to assess their fitness at the end of the summer break, combining gym work, running drills and body composition analysis - all put on by the Club’s highly skilled medical and sports science staff.
Pre-season training officially begins for the majority of the first team squad on Monday 6 July, while those involved in international football at the end of last season will have slightly later report dates.
The squad then head to their pre-season training camp in Austria the following week, which will provide crucial preparation time for this month’s upcoming pre-season friendlies.
First, City head to Sincil Bank to face Lincoln City on 21 July (7.45pm KO), before trips to Mansfield Town on 25 July (3pm KO), Burton Albion on 28 July (7.30pm KO), recently confirmed Rotherham United on 29 July (7.45pm KO) and finally Birmingham City on 1 August (3pm KO).
Leicester open their 2015/16 Premier League campaign the following Saturday (8 August) at King Power Stadium against Sunderland – the side City secured their top flight status against with a game to spare last season.
There will be exclusive coverage of City’s return to pre-season training on lcfc.com and Foxes Player on from Monday.
