After finding the net in Leicester City’s final pre-season friendly on Saturday, defender Robert Huth is feeling positive about the new Barclays Premier League campaign.

The German scored the first of City’s goals against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s on Saturday afternoon as they recovered from 2-0 down to beat the Blues 3-2 and complete an unbeaten pre-season.

That sets the Foxes up nicely for their tough Premier League opener next weekend when they lock horns with Sunderland at King Power Stadium – a match that ushers in a new era under Claudio Ranieri.

And with just days to go, City’s summer signing from Stoke City is in high spirits, telling Foxes Player HD after the Birmingham victory: “I feel great. I haven’t missed a day’s training so personally I feel very good.

<div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“I don’t think they (the fans) can read a lot into these pre-season games, because some players will be trying to play their way into the team and some may have put doubt in the manager’s mind. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“I thought for pretty much all of the game we played pretty well. During the game they scored two good goals but we played pretty well in the second half and deserved to win in the end.” </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >It may be a first experience of working under the new boss for most of the City squad, but Huth is more familiar than most with the Italian, who gave him his debut at Chelsea way back in 2002. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >The German recalled: “I was only 17 at the time and he let me train with the first team from just before my 17th birthday. “That was good first team experience at that young age and he gave me my debut. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" >“He’s slightly different in that he likes to set up a little more defensively and start with a clean sheets. That’s something we’re keen to do – stay solid – and maybe score a few more goals. </div><div style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 10pt;" ><br /></div><div ><span style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">“The way we finished last season was tremendous and we'll try to keep it tight at the back and score a few more goals up front.”</span></span></div><div ><a href="http://www.foxandcropclothing.co.uk" target="_blank"><img xlink:href="tcm:0-2367360" title="F&amp;C_SS15_StoryBanner" alt="F&amp;C_SS15_StoryBanner" style="width: 480px; height: 100px;" /></a><br /></div>
