After Saturday’s goalless draw against Bournemouth, defender Christian Fuchs says Leicester City must now turn their attentions to their Emirates FA Cup outing at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Despite dominating proceedings in the second period, City’s forwards were stifled by a Bournemouth side that were reduced to 10 men with half an hour to play following Simon Francis’ sending off.

Jamie Vardy rattled an effort against the inside of the post in the first half, while Riyad Mahrez was denied from the penalty spot by Cherries stopper Artur Boruc.

And while it was a game that Fuchs certainly felt his side deserved to claim all three points from, the Austria international left back is now focused only on the Foxes’ FA Cup Third Round clash with Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

When asked whether City deserved three points from the clash with Bournemouth, Fuchs told Foxes Player HD: “Yes, definitely, especially because of the second half. It’s disappointing that we drew. We had a lot of chances and obviously the penalty was one of the biggest ones.

“It just didn’t happen. We’ve got to keep our heads up and look forward to the next game and focus on our next challenge.

“They were tough. In the first half they played really well. We had a hard time getting into the game but obviously the red card helped.

“In the second half, we definitely deserved to win that game. We had a lot of clear chances but it didn’t happen. The next game is important.”

Fuchs joined the Foxes following a successful four-year spell at Schalke 04. With him he brought a reputation of having an impressive throw in and the ability to produce fine deliveries with his left boot.

The Blue Army has seen plenty of promise in the exciting defender so far this term, but Fuchs has just one thing on his mind.

He added: “Whatever helps the team – that’s my goal. It’s not about myself personally, it’s about what helps the team – how we can improve and how we can score goals.

“I think we’re defending really well. We have some luck sometimes but still we kept a clean sheet which shows we have a lot of quality as a team.”
